RAC Low Back Program – Specialized Physiotherapy Care in the Niagara Region

PhysioSense is a proud provider within the Musculoskeletal Rapid Access Clinic (MSK RAC) Low Back specialty program. This Ontario-wide initiative is designed to give Niagara Region residents faster, evidence-based access to non-surgical back care, reducing wait times and avoiding unnecessary imaging. Our licensed physiotherapists work directly with local physicians to provide coordinated, outcome-driven treatment for both acute and chronic low back conditions.

What Is the MSK RAC Low Back Program?

The MSK RAC Low Back Program streamlines the path to recovery for patients with non-emergency back pain. Instead of long waiting lists for specialists, eligible patients receive a rapid clinical assessment and begin targeted physiotherapy almost immediately. The program prioritizes active recovery and functional movement, reserving surgery or advanced imaging only when clinically necessary.

Our Approach to Your Recovery

Your PhysioSense physiotherapist manages your care journey from start to finish. We move beyond passive treatments, focusing on a personalized plan that includes targeted exercise prescription, manual therapy, and ergonomic adjustments. By coordinating closely with your referring doctor, we ensure your treatment evolves with your progress, helping you return to work and daily activities with confidence.

Who Is This Program For?

This specialized care is ideal for individuals experiencing mechanical low back pain, sciatica, disc-related symptoms, or postural strain. Whether you are a professional in St. Catharines, a resident of Niagara Falls, or living in Welland or Lincoln, this program is designed for those seeking a structured, non-invasive alternative to long-term pain management.

How to Access the Program

Accessing the RAC Low Back Program is simple: your family physician or nurse practitioner submits a referral to the program. Once processed, our intake team will contact you to schedule your initial assessment. Because this is part of Ontario’s healthcare framework, eligible referrals are processed without out-of-pocket fees for the program’s assessment and treatment sessions.
